It’s a bit like the company just figured out how to genetically engineer trees that grow money. Imagine negotiating for the acquisition of a company that figured out how to engineer trees that grow money.

It’s not going to be easy to have the upper hand. But, if you’re Mega Pharmaceuticals Inc., you certainly don’t want to let Giganticus BioPharm Inc. beat you to the deal because whoever owns those 25 patents is going to control a great deal of the landscape for one of the most significant treatment areas in the entire addressable healthcare market.

That would seem to lay the groundwork for some type of bidding war at some stage down the road.
