There's been a tremendous amount of chatter regarding KO's interest into the non-marijuana CBD industry. If KO enters, the rest will follow. KO seems intent on working with hemp-based CBD companies, since hemp-derived CBD fits the profile of non-marijuana CBD. The Farm Bill is expected to pass by the End of the Year; hopefully KO's lobbying power can ensure that. If the Farm Bill passes with the hemp language in-tact, then common sense would point to big industry swooping in to gobble it all up to join in on the fun. Nothing is set in stone, and no deals have been formed, yet. I personally would expect a bidding war for the top CBD companies; I highly doubt that KO is the only one interested in this space. Diageo has expressed interest, and Constellation already pumped more than $4 billion into CGC. Coors through hydropothecary has also joined in on the fun. The CBD industry alone is expected to grow 40 times by 2022 according to analysts cited by RollingStone. The hemp CBD industry would be a great choice for KO going forward considering their ability to scale efficiently and globally --and considering the fact that hemp-derived CBD doesn't get you high like Marijuana's THC. Wellness is the way to go in the future for big business as Americans and the rest of the world become more and more health conscious. I'm expecting big things for KO and the CBD industry. The CBD industry will eventually prevail over the marijuana industry since it will be more acceptable to the risk-averse crowd. Currently, there is about 5% market penetration for CBD in the US. May the best company win.
