KJ lied about the financial audits. It's that simple.

There's no "implies". There's no ambiguity. Just straight up lies.

This "innocent mistake" theory might hold up if KJ wasn't lying or misleading about everything else to do with this company

- Chinese investment? Lies.
- 90 units sold to Panama? Lies.
- EXIM bank approval? Lies.

Some people will probably go to their graves sincerely believing KJ was a fine upstanding executive no matter how much money they lost on this company.

However, to get to a more fulsome truth we would need to bring in more perspectives, ideally closer to the source.

I always leave the door open to being surprised in these kind of things. For example, how many times are simple miscommunications the cause of dastardly confusion. You think the wife said she was getting the propane for the expresso maker and 5am next mornin' no coffee!,.. or KJ thought the auditors were given the go ahead,.. implied they will start when they are paid for the last job owing but this didn't totally register with KJ (or couldn't because of lack of funds and was hopeful auditors would proceed because he thought they had a good rapport - but they held the line on principle, etc,.. you get the idea ;).
