It's nothing about failed plans; it's about saying things had already happened when they never did.

C'mon Gran,.. "lying" ? - a little strong without proof. Sometimes things shift. Look at the Kavanaugh narrative - may be no lying involved on either side (except of course; idea of a 'noble gesture' filling the SC vacancy after stalling BO's efforts ;).
Sometimes things don't work out as planned. Did you ever promise the wife you would build her that dream home but had to settle .. ?, etc,.. .
I do hope or wish Kevin and everyone involved the best or what ever "success" will eventually look like.
