Regarding Casinokid11211, post #17133, this is an interesting proposition. He owns 1.8 million shares, shorted at 0.17 cent, so far his gain is $90,000. If price drops to 0.8 cent his gain will increase to $162,000, a bit over 50% gain. If price rises he will get margin calls in a hurry, this can happen overnight. If a margin call is not met in time the broker will cover the shorts without a permission from the owner. For a buyer, maximum loss would be the principal, $306,000, in a case of short sale, depending of the size of price gain, loss can be unlimited. This will completely destroy short seller's entire asset very quickly. We've seen this in the case of Tilray last week, shorts were totally destroyed, no ordinary investor could have met that kind of margin call. Also, covering shorts by the broker will help gain the price. If 3rd quarter earnings come out bad he will do well, if not he is in trouble. Again, this is a kind of wager. There are always two sides in a given stock, one side buys while other side sells, only one side is right. So far, he is the winner.
