I just watched a documentary call "The Bleeding Edge" on Nexflix and in it they were talking about some elderly patients that had gotten hip replacement with metal ball and socket. One Dr that had the same surgery started having neurological issue and after doing some test on himself he figured out he had Cobalt toxicity from the metal used in his hip replacement. Long story short, allot of his elderly patient in his practice started having issue that were being diagnosed as early stage Alzheimer's and Dementia. Only after the Dr started talking to the patients did he find out they all had similar hip replacement surgery with the cobalt components. He also realize that these patients with A&D type symptoms were probably bing misdiagnosed. I wonder if any hip replacement patients like from this group might be in any kind of A&D studies or if anyone is looking out for anomalies like this, which would obviously have an unfavorable outcome in a particular study.
