On the issue of Ford not taking Bail Out monies, I would have to stand with those who agree that Ford should be commended for not having to receive any monies.

I blame Ford management for their stock valuation.
Since the 2007-08 financial recession Ford allow shorts to take control of their stock.

The low share value has been a money maker game for past decade. Shorts run up s/p just to bring it back down.

I agree GM was smart to take the bailout money to shed debt that allow them to buy back their stock that help restore share value. Ford did nothing but allow its low valuation to remain a mm pingpong game.

The company was well prepared for the down turn in the worlds economy doing that time, as they for saw its developing and rid themselves of various subsidiaries, while herding cash. This allowed them the means to weather the recession as it was upon the industries of the world.

They seem now to be preparing again for the same.

Scrapping most passenger models in favor of pickup's
again ridding themselves of money draining subsidiaries.
while herding cash.

Where as GM fail into BK, received a discount in paying back its creditors, while screwing every single shareholder as they emerge with bailout monies, but eventually paid the government back with huge profits.

But yes, the bailout was good for GM and Ford share price actually suffers more for it.
