My other thought is maybe Alonso is a butcher at the 1b position. he plays the position so badly they don't want to devalue him, because they plan to trade him in the offseason. Just a thought. That would be my thought if this was a well run organization, which we know it is not. Because they keep saying they are worried about him in the field, and if that's the case they need to trade him, because their is no DH in the NL at the moment, although I have to be honest as a NL fan this might surprise people I actually want a DH in the NL by the way.
