On the business side one must remember that in 1985 the Doc's reputation was still intact, so they can't blame the SEC for their inability to do anything with the engine. It would be another 18 years before the SEC 'thing'.

In fact, in 1985 he was still making money from the SuperTrapp, his real estate development and probably his farm. So why, in good times, could he not get Freedom Motors to manufacture and sell engines? In those years cars like the RX-7 was still produced, so the Rotary engine was also somewhat popular.

He could have made even more money to plough into the Skycar.

Now they expect people to believe that they can achieve some measure of success with the engine in bad times? When they have to survive on short term loans with no means to pay it back? In a time when the rotary engine has somewhat fallen from grace?

But what is a favorite thing for Moller fans to say? "Past performance is no indication of future performance." Something like that. Or in short "this time is different". Yeah, sure.
