Your logic is fine as usual but I've long respected your trader's agility so nothing new here.

There's a potential trap, though, should you follow thru on your idea of selling preemptively:

The next distribution can be expected in November. If all remains calm in the US political and geopolitical arenas, I'd be expecting to find NGL units driving towards higher ground, above $15, I'm thinking.

Guidance preceded by the announcement of an acquisition of accretive assets along with even the mere mention of a slated distribution increase will drive this thing higher by at least a couple of dollars just like that.

This places you at risk should you follow through on your plan. My suggestion would be that of building towards a larger position. Many have done this as you know and have done, yourself.

NGL is in a rather unique position---capable of leaping much higher with dramatic suddenness. Slow and easy wins the race every time without undue risk.
