They say the idea about miners
owning miners is just to gain the "leverage" play from excessive movement. Miners can soar into 10baggers, when gold and silver double.

That's what all the newsletters say right? Ive bought many many miners newsletters. some are ok, some suck, some very expensive. and ALL of their picks, peaked in 2011/2012 and collapsed to GROSS Bottom in late 2015. Then they ALL soared in the first half of 2016 and most collapsed again and have been zig zagging in a middle muddle zone for the last year and a half. and now heading downward to find bottoms again.

For a long time GDXJ held above the 29/30 base. Until finally it fell down to the next target at 27. there are a few lower targets below 27.

Finally spot Gold fell below 1200 again.
Silver is outrageous in the 14's.

I think it would be basically ok to just own some GDXJ at a very low bottom, and hold it for a while. or own some GDX as well.
just as a leverage play.
When I had the newsletters, (from 2009-2013) I bought about 30 miners. It was way too much. but you get suckered in by the newsletter promo hype, EVERY little junior miner they are raving about, you get the fever, and this is how the newsletters work. They make you feel compelled to own them all. When you are a newbie investor , you gravitate to these newsletters for help. and you get sucked in.

I finally learned on my own to see the game, and find a few miners to invest in, and stay away from Kitco ,King world news, and the newsletters and all MSN fake news and hype. I like reading Jim Willie, and a very few others.

I own SVM and PVG . Interested in just a few miners. Like if Corvus falls back to 1 dollar I'll start a position.
Maybe AG at 4 dollars.

A few years ago, the darling miners I was interested in--- TAHO. Look at what happened to TAHO now.

Look at Hecla, and their trouble with the mine strike. AG had mine problems that cost them 30 million in loss.
I'm glad I recovered from the miner addiction.
