Google preparing to launch display-equipped speaker for holiday season, NAR says
Google (GOOGL) is planning to roll out a smart speaker equipped with a display for the upcoming holiday season, escalating competition with Amazon (AMZN) and Alibaba (BABA) int he market for voice-activated technology, Nikkei Asian Review reports, citing sources. "Google targets to ship some 3 million units for the first batch of the new model of smart speaker that comes with a screen," an industry source told Nikkei. "It's an aggressive plan." Taiwan suppliers for Google have been told to get ready for a hardware blitz to challenge Amazon and Apple (AAPL) in the space, the report note
