Your portfolio may be at its most vulnerable when you die. I've read tons of horror stories, and litigation about brokers suddenly churning the accounts of conservative investors .... investors who keep a lot of cash with a brokerage house. Ihubers are especially vulnerable if they use brokers who push junk stocks. This is something that must be discussed with spouses!
Seeking Alpha had a magnificent article about two years ago dealing with the realities of older investors. (Similarly, I seen local players who are unquestionably drunk when posting... and probably when investing.)
Big question: What's your broker going to do with your account when you die or become incapacitated? Remember, after your death, your account may be reassigned from your current broker -- probably someone you trust -- to a broker you've never even met!
