This may help someone some day .....

My modem/router went out.

Bought a new one same brand.

Cable company tech couldn't figure out why I couldn't get internet I bought even more expensive better one then my existing.

The tech person told me all she could think of it's trying to talk with my old modem cause it showed up in net search.

So I went out bought different brand got on net right away no problem.
