When I was in college in the sixties I took a course called Environmental Biology which was based on the book called the Population Bomb by Paul Ehrlich. He had predicted many dire things were going to happen if our population continue to expand but his mistake was not understanding what efficiencies in distribution caused, increased food production, exponential improvements in healthcare worldwide cause. However his book looked at the scarcity of resources that will inevitably happen with increased consumption and destruction of our planet.

Let's face it the earths population is to big to sustain it for a very long stretch. Global warming will put significant pressure on the earth's resources as we are seeing right now a 50% decrease in the biomass of the oceans and over a 60% drop in flying insects. Fossil fuels will run out probably in less than 100 years. As the population grows and more and more uneducated people are spawned man's inhumanity to man will continue. I don't see a bright future for man but the planet will continue and heal itself.
