My assumption is that there were 9,000,000 shares sold and bought on 7/3.

By whom is my question. All institutional total holdings were just over 10,000,000 shares (22.91% of outstanding shares) at the end of last quarter. I think it was Xena that mentioned one possibility of a shorting play which I don't fully understand how it is done. I would appreciate anyone explaining how that can be done using naked short selling or whatever?
My hope is that it was arranged for a company like Pfiser to pick up shares as part of a partnership deal. This also could explain why BIIB has reacted like they have knowing full well A2-73's capabilities and that they (BIIB) may not be the leader in fighting CNS diseases as their CEO has stated.
