It was stated by Bezos in an article from November 2017 that Amazon would be involved with a smartphone in late 2018. It discussed their less than successful attempt with their 1st phone and how this time they were going to do something quite unique. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Utopya they partnered with considering all of the NDA's and secrecy in the past months. There would be absolutely no worry about financing purchase orders if you ask me.
