Conjecture 'v' but I think since today is Friday and everyone is looking at the current runners they aren't looking a few steps ahead. The spread is killing volume because no one wants to sell into the bid (good) and no one wants to slap the ask (bad) because they're so far apart. That causes the lack of volume.
