Look the mets are stupid, but I don't even think they are that dumb to get nothing out of degromm. so I expect there to be significant haul if you trade him. Look I would prefer to extend guys on reasonable terms rather than let them play out the string. But to me wheeler is perfect guy to extend I believe his stuff is finally coming into his own, he has made no money, he will probably take a reasonable deal, the problem with degromm is he is older than the other guys and if you give him and extension now you will be paying absurd money, and he is at peak trading value.
Machado is a fa after this season. Who cares we he was traded too he will sign for the most money most likely. the mets really have no excuse they really should go get these player but I doubt they do it.
Whether they keep degromm or not, they really should spend they will now save a ton of money on the ces contract because of insurance they are allready saving from wright. they have a bunch of money coming off, if they added a little too it they can fix the problem, but do they want too. that is the question.
When I say trade degromm and the pitchers, their based on the fact that I don't think these guys will extend them, should they? Yeah. But after being burned on lageres and wright, I don't think they will do it again. In a perfect world would I trade these pitchers, nope, but I don't think they are gonna go the extra mile to compete now they could do it if they wanted too, problem is not buying they want too.
You have to understand my position is not that you have to trade the pitchers, my position is either serious add a bunch of excellent pieces around them, and extend them, or trade them and rebuild the farm. Degromm is a bit different because of his age, and what I think it would take to extend him at this point, plus the peak value he is at trading right now. All is just my opinion, and I could always be wrong though.
