Kev; SUMMARY
Dr. Budoff says he has been using (by using i believe he means prescribing) Vascepa for years. he was/is an investigator in Reduce-It with some of his patients in the trial. he also has another trial Evaprorate using V looking at plaque buildup.
he said DHA and fibrates tend to raise LDL.
he says purified EPA is 98% epa and DS fish pills are only 40 to 50% fish oil with alot of saturated fat..not good fat.
he believes there is a dose related responce and more (4 grams) is better.
he believes there will be a 15 to 20% risk reduction range with adding EPA to statin.
the cost of V is "infinitely" lower than PCSK9s and canakinumab.
he thinks that practicing cardiologist will change their minds on Vascepa and start to understand that the previous fish oil studies had too little EPA in their pills and usually only had a 1000mg pill per day. dose does matter.
he reiterated over and over that dose of EPA matters and triglyceride reduction matters.
he did give the chance of trial success in SS, clinically meaningful risk reduction at 85%.

Edit: looks like Sam just gave you the transcript while i was typing my summary oh well. i got called away from computer twice while composing. GL
