There are different ways in which one might describe a stock pick as a high yield play without referring to the casting off of distributions or dividends.

In 2008 I moved into a stock that was recently delisted due to bankruptcy. I was buying at 25 cents all the way up to nearly $3. Traded constantly and made more than $200K. The company ticker was HDY (Hyperdynamics). It was involved in oil exploration in the Republic of Guinea in northwest Africa.

I'd say that this would be a high yielder although it paid no dividends. I managed Investor Relations for the gentlemen who owned the concession. Their company was "SCS Corporation," whose single asset was later sold to HDY.

NRZ will never be capable of bringing in such enormous gains for me as I'm not sufficiently versed in REITs and their operations whereas energy is my area of expertise.

There seem to be others on this board who know a lot more than I. Our moderator certainly deserves mention (Enterprising I.)
