No, saying during that time frame ...

... from 12/29/17 when there were 1,611,930 shares short, through 3/29/18 when there were 2,676,521 shares short, institutions were buying those shares that were being shorted. In other words, the short sellers were actually selling to institutions that were going long.

I believe that dynamic continues today. Short sellers have almost doubled their short position since 3/29/2018, and I believe (IMHO) that long institutions continue to buy those shares that are being shorted and are going long.
