It's a little different how they ended up in my creek which was all ready a wetland and sitting in the 100 year flood plain. My house was built set back 200 yards from the flood plain.

The beavers had their own pond sitting on 20 acres of undeveloped land. That pond fed into the creek which fed downstream through wetlands to the city lake which is used as one of our reservoirs.

The city allowed some developer to buy the beaver dam and land and annexed the property for apts which had to be rezoned since the land was always designated single family homes with at least an acre.

The beavers only recourse was to relocate downstream and start constructing new dams which totally screwed up the wetlands that fed the reservoir. Add in all that blacktop from the apt complex and you can see it became a total clusterF.

I called the state environemntal services and the guy was pissed that the city never came to him in the first place.

Sadly it was too late for Bucky and his family since they now had to go.

The city ended up getting hit with a huge fine.

The city has tried to pull the same crap on abutting property to me and I managed to fight them off sucessfully and preserved what I could by 75-100 yards surrounding our tiny development that was built to the original zoning laws years ago.

You are correct. They increase the density by rezoning and the tax base increases as well.

We have deer and various other wildlife in our yards here since they have no place to go any more.
