Comparing to a public company that would be the responsibility of a companies CFO\ accountant. In the medical community think of a Independent medical exam (IME) as a auditor. They do the exam, they do not offer patient care plans or treatments it's an exam. The auditor does not tell a company what is wrong or how to fix it. It's an examination of the companies finances. If a IME Doc. Told a patient this is wrong it should be like this and I can treat you, that would be very unethical.
