Here is the info on ASPs from their press release:

"Demand for AMD Turion(TM) 64 mobile processors was especially strong, resulting in record mobile processor sales and unit shipments coupled with increased average selling prices (ASPs). Record AMD Opteron(TM) processor sales resulted from continued adoption of dual core processors, record unit shipments and improved ASPs.

Desktop processor sales were flat sequentially with increased unit shipments offset by decreased ASPs."

So to summarize:

Mobile (Turion): record units, "improved" ASPs
Server (Opteron): record units, "improved" ASPs
Desktop (Athlon): increased units, decreased ASPs

The chinks in the armor are appearing in the desktop segment, but it looks like AMD has a good head of steam in mobile and server that will probably take time to overcome.

I just don't understand how Turion can continue making progress in both units and ASPs. Then again, Merom was just released in August.

I was starting to get my hopes up, but I think it's back to "wait 'til next quarter" mode for any kind of major change in perception to occur with Wall Street analysts with regard to Intel and AMD.
