Rumblings are that factors leading to a market collapse make that inevitable. What are your thoughts on the matter?

I am protected by dividend and interest income from my stocks and bonds but surely do not want to see my portfolio lose value. That would be disheartening after building a nice bunch of appreciated assets.

I'd still like to continue buying bonds and dividend paying stocks but the thought of keeping ones powder dry for such an eventuality conflicts with income seeking investment goals.

Any thoughts ?
