XRP is a digital asset designed to efficiently transfer a unit of value from one party to the next. Buying XRP doesn't entitle anyone to an ownership stake in Ripple Labs. XRP tokens are intended to be a vehicle of transfer and nothing more.

Ripple owns a large amount of XRP tokens, but again they are not directly related. If Ripple Labs goes out of business, the XRP ecosystem will still exist independently
