My Take On Last Nights Show
I will go over each contestant at a time. rather than performance by performance.
1) Jurnee-Solid Vocal and Solid performance on the 1rst song she sang. The second song she sang well as well. The problem with both of these songs is I feel nothing when she sings. Don't get me wrong she got a good voice, I happened to like her first performance better and the second to me really paled to the original, as the emotion for me was missing in it was even more apparent. Overall Grade B-
2) Gabby- Her tone continue to be and issue for me. she sang decently in the first song I didn't like the end, her second song she showed off her tremendous power which is her biggest plus. She is a solid singer if you don't dislike her tone. I'm not her biggest fan of her tone, but can acknowledge she can sing. Overall Grade B-
3) Michael- First song was an average at best vocal, and I'm being nice when I say that, really was below average. His second song he was better than his first but he was shakey at the start, hit a nice note at the end, but that doesn't skew the result that Much for me. Overall Grade C
4) Cade- I thought his song was the worst we ever heard him by a country mile he was off the entire song, plus it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over done, dislike the arrangement as well. His second performance was better than his 1rst, but to be honest I'm kind of over this, truth be told he unlike previous rock idols lambert, cook, daughtery, he couldn't sing a ballad like these guys could. and that is a big negative for me. His first performance I gave a D and his second I gave a B. Overall Grade C
5) Caity-Disliked her first song, didn't like the way she performed it, her vocal wasn't great, and completely over the top. her second performance which I gave a D+ on the 1rst, was far worse, her vocal was much worse, she had a mess up with the vocal. It was F worthy yes it was that bad. Back to reality after a great week last week in my opinion. Overall Grade D-
6) Caleb- His first song he did a good job. Although it paled in comparison to the original. His second Song was in my opinion the best performance of the night by a country mile. it was also his best performance by a country mile. I loved what he did with that second song. In my opinion he won the night.Overall Grade A-
7) Maddie- Neither of her two song were my favorite songs, and I don't think they were perfect for her, but she showed much more power that I thought she had. She also sounded pretty solid, it is also pretty impressive the instrument she can play as well. Quickly becoming one of my favorites to win it all. Because the thing I can say about her is she is consistent, and I value consistency, not where your all world one week, and stink the next.Overall Grade B+
My two cuts would of Been Catie and either michael or cade. We got Catie and Jurnee, jurnee didn't surprise me that the people picked her because she seemed unpopular even though she was one of the best vocalists in the competition that was primarily because her likeability, and being able to make you feel something didn't show well to others in this competition in my opinion, because the voice is just a part of what makes a contestant a winner in my opinion. Anyways right now my favorites are of the 5 left in this order Maddie, Caleb, Gabby, Cade, and Michael. Although based on my comments I'm lukewarm on Gabby, and Cade and Michael I'm not that high on. Admittingly caleb took the biggest jump for me this week, as I like him waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more coming out of this week than coming into it. Although Maddie is my favorite right now in my opinion.
