Can I play? Amazon went public in 1997.The initial price was set between $12-$14. Later on it was set at $14-$16. But Investment Banks got it to $18. That was the actual IPO price of amazon back in 1997.The IPO was meant to raise $54 million back then, a meager sum today for amazon. Amazon was then valued at $438 million. It came out with 3 million shares. On the first trading day itself, amazon's stock soared and hit $30 while it closed at $23-1/2.
