Getting a little carried away. It hasnt been proven that you can sue the customers, rather than manufacturers for infringement. It has been proven you can sue the manufacturer for infringement. If that is the case, Arris (the market leader) recently announced they sold 200 million modems. Assuming they all infringe, that's 200MM times a per unit liability, generally $1.50 in this price range (see cell phone industry settlements)= $300MM. The have about 1/3 of the total market share, Cisco has half their share and nothing going forward= $450MM. These two will form the basis of any settlement/buyout. Then future value of the patents need to be determined. Since Cisco is out, most of their business will absorbed into Arris. Maybe you double that number, no more= $900MM. Pay the lawyers $100MM= $800MM. Thats about what this case is worth, invest accordingly.
