All that a safe does is concentrate your valuables in one place and tell the thieves exactly where it is. A guy in my neighborhood had one of those round safes that was cast in to the foundation in his master bedroom closet. Some "contractors" who did some work in his house scoped out the safe and set up a hidden camera in his yard to get the code to his alarm system. When he was at work, they got into his house and got into the safe with an angle grinder and a cutoff wheel. He lost about $250K. (He's one of those guys who doesn't trust banks.)

I stopped using a safe after that, my silver is hidden all over the place.
