Just noticed that my small SNMP position is now ahead by $1,145 after launching about three weeks ago. A cursory examination of the company's fundamentals quickly reveals some of my initial interest in the company.

The focus is in a lot of smart areas in terms of production and exploration. And from Ameritrade comes this:

The Company's total estimated proved reserves total over 11.6 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMBoe). It owns approximately 1,992 net producing wells.

My total number of units held is small at just 1,000 units with a cost basis of $11.25. Three weeks of ownership isn't enough to suggest (to me) that I'm ready to urge followers to jump on board. On the other hand, if I can add at beneath $11.90, rest assured I will do so without hesitation. This would translate into my not risking unrealized gains in their entirety. It's an arithmetic consideration having virtually nothing to do with money itself. In effect, I'm ready to accept that increases will be more expensive but not so much as to ignore a very positive reality proved by the 9.3% gain on the books.

There are forces in play that will explain this surge to the upside. For the momentum player (I'm one of them), this translates into the simplest of questions:

Where's the threat to continuing appreciation?

I'm not feeling the pressure of heat on my shoulders. I recommended this pick to IHUB member and long-time friend "Harkmi" knowing he's always ready to dive into something looking promising. But I'm reticent to recommend SNMP to all people out there, not yet, anyhow. Still, if you've got a few bucks to spare and want to join the party, you might pick up a few hundred units and park yourself at the wishing well along with the rest of us.
