Again, I am with you here! But a quoted statement of "proprietary software" and "exclusive apps"

Proprietary definition - relating to an owner or ownership.
"the company has a proprietary right to the property"

And

Exclusive definition - restricted or limited to the person, group, or area concerned.

Using another vendors app or copying someone else in my opinion does not really fit either of the above, again, IMO
