Yes, the short interest balance went from about $50 to somewhere in the region of $500.

That is pretty insignificant.

And unfortunately, as I explain in another post, a single open LONG trade done as Riskless Principle will get reported as short INTEREST if it straddles the reporting day.

So the FINRA bimonthly report is really just the maximum possible short interest reported for that day...the actual number could be less.
