This is a seminal potential piece, on a still blinded trial, in a space that has had some controversy, and some issues that were hard to pin down from the start. I can’t imagine this is a “typical” article about some completed research. It involves hundred of patients and potentially up to the low 60’s, in terms of co-authors.

I don’t think a typical measure really is likely, necessarily and I’ve seen articles take YEARS to get published, post submission, for reasons having to do with co-authors and other institutions. This is a complex process, which can frequently involve unexpected and difficult to predict reasons for delays.

Not saying it will likely take “years” here, but it’s important to realize that “typical” times to publication are probably not an ideal measure.
