I'm more interested in minimizing risk and not losing serious money fast.

Here's a question, why did they wait until now to disclose the provisional patent document? It was submitted 11/30/17

It's a little peculiar that in previous press releases and news articles there is no mention of the word "provisonal" when talking about the patent application. I mean it's in plain writing on the uspto.gov website "provisional patent applications are not examined, meaning they will provide no indication as to the patentability of the subject matter".
