That's the problem with skiing. I have a Canadian friend who skied competitively when he was young. He says he broke nearly every bone in his body. Now in his 50s, he's feeling it.

I once had a dream in which I was in a downhill race. It was fabulous! Unusually for a dream, I really felt the sensation of skiing: the wind, the speed. What I did not feel was the pain...

And that's how I prefer it.
