Well KC is rebuilding at this point. Vargas makes no sense for them in my opinion.
Vargas is not gonna be what he was in the first half, and the second half he just got tired coming off tommy john so I don't think he is that either. He will be helped by a move to the NL my prediction is a 3.25-3.75 era, he normally puts together a 3.75-4.25 era in fact he has been pretty consistent in that regard in the AL, so I'm expecting about a 3.5 era and a inning eater. Basically I'm expecting him to my bartolo colon who was there in 15 and 16 during the run. Eat innings give the team a chance to win, plug him in the 4 whole and forget about him.
Degromm and Syndergaard have to be the aces we expect for them to have a chance I think that will happen. Here is where it get's tricky though and the vargas signing helped immensely with this.
Now I don't need both of Harvey or Matz I just need 1 too be really good and slot in the 3 spot. And that either the other wheeler, montero gsellman, lugo could vie for #5. Of course it still revolves around health. But I think this vargas signing just makes the pitching staff not everything needs to break right for it work.
Time will tell but they are in a very weak division probably the phillies are the third best team as they are improving. But still think that means mid to high 70's for them. we are talking low 70's for the braves, and I think a 5 is the first digit for the marlins and I may be optimistic when I say that. So I think the mets have a perfect opportunity considering the games in division to take advantage and where teams like the giants, d-back, rockies and dodgers beat themselves up, I think a team like the brewers and Mets have a good chance to take advantage of division play and be the two wildcard teams time will tell of course. But that is my take anyways.
