In my 40 years doing TA I have heard every excuse for why TA should not apply. When I first got with a brokerage firm in 1970 there were zero technical analysts on Wall Street but today every firm has a TA department and it is taught when going for Finance.
It has been amazing to watch the evolution of TA, having met such pioneers as John Bollinger and Joe Granville. But I know there will always be people who say "it does not apply here" which is why I back off posting TA when that happens. But trust me, Accumulation/Distribution, support and resistance levels, moving averages MACD crossovers, etc. Do apply here and I do not believe that the 7 million shares that have been bought has been by a few people this last two weeks.
