I find it interesting that the SEC would only investigate GTE and not the MF, NY Post, BONY, and Naked Shorting at the same time to present a level playing field, or a "perception" of fairness. While I for one am glad to be out of the grips of the AMEX where we have done nothing but get shorted to death, GTE will have its measure of difficulty regaining its image and credibility. I, like several others on this board, will not panic and will hold onto my shares. If the ship sinks, so be it - if it rights itself, more power to the longs that hung in. Best of luck to all longs that depart from GTE - it's certainly understandable, IMO.
