I spent a few years as a journalist: I wrote and then I was an editor. Let me share a few thoughts about journalists/writers: If you work for the N.Y times, the Washington Post, the Wall St. Journal and a few others you follow the rules: You get the story and you get it straight. Unless you're writing editorials or op-ed pieces you keep your your feelings, opinions, out of your writing.

I have great respect for these men and women. They ply their craft, and they ply it very well.

Whatever Trump says about these papers and writers is meaningless; he simply does not know, nor will he. Ever.

These professionals, solid and ethical and hard working follow the tradition set by Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite, John Chancellor, Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, Peter Jennings. Occasional mistakes? Sure, but mistakes, not the pursuit of a personal agenda.

It is a fine tradition. But it seems to be unraveling.
