Olddog, whoever makes the mutual fund or ETF (blackrock, vanguard,etc) votes the stock position. Yet their shareholders have all the risk in those stocks going up or down. If you have ever owned a fund do you ever remember voting your shares? Almost always the funds vote with management or if they disagree they may abstain or else why did they buy that stock to include in their funds. As I have said in the past several of are large shareholders are funds only. The reason that these companies hold large percentages is simply due to the fact that IDCC only has about 35M shares. The funds will buy when IDCC shares go down and sell when they go up to maintain whatever percentage IDCC is to have in that fund. Another point that I will make is about 75% of IDCC is held by institutions therefore it makes it difficult for IDCC to be included in new funds.
