There is some debate on that, for 2 reasons.
The first being that, shortly after the election and before being sworn in, an intelligence officer visited Trump at Trump Tower and advised him to relocate his transition office away from the tower. There was no explicit warning that he was under surveillance, but Trump was warned he would have a more secure environment elsewhere.
The second reason to debate that is, it has been speculated, but never proven, that Flynn got caught up in his own fiasco, while working from Trump Tower.
So, I would not go as far as to say "That simply is not true". As all this stuff becomes more evident about possible surveillance of the Trump campaign, we may indeed find out the Trump campaign and transition conversations were being monitored. I guess they could do that without an actual wire tap as we understand the terminology, but there is much circumstantial evidence that there were some violations, with regard to privacy issues.
It took a long time for all the Watergate info to come to light, so again, I will withhold judgment on all the speculation until more facts come to light.
