Flipper, I don't know about the combination patent, but I did find this patent interesting:

If you read the claims on pages 44-50, it sure sounds like that might very well be "method B" of activation in the DIRECT trial. It is obvious reading the whole patent that they gleaned a lot of information from the DIRECT phase I trial. Can't wait for them to use those findings in perfecting the Phase II approach....
