Intel’s Spectre patch is causing reboot problems for older processors

I purchased my current laptop in 2011, it's already an old decrepit antique I guess. Works well and I like my Windows 7, but looks like I may have to consider upgrading at some point this year.
(I wonder if my TI 99/4A computer could be upgraded to such a degree, that I could stock trade online). That would RULE!
