While that may be true, I feel that alcohol consumption will suffer when Marijuana hits the market for real. Once it's completely legal, a whole new market will open up. The heavy drinkers will want to smoke and drink, while the lighter drinkers may want to skip the carbs once in a while. Or maybe they will have other health reasons to stop drinking? I personally stopped when I developed gout.

Also, to show how much growth there is, take a look at some of the alcohol Market caps. Diageo, who produces Smirnoff and Crown Royal has a market cap of nearly 90 billion USD. Anheuser-Busch has a market cap of 193 billion USD. The top 5 marijuana stocks put together haven't even hit 20 billion yet, not even on a good day.
