Actor Jerry Van Dyke died Friday afternoon at his ranch in Arkansas, TMZ reported Saturday. He was 86 years old.

Dyke–the younger brother of the famous performer Dick Van Dyke–died with his wife Shirley by his side, she confirmed to the outlet. The actor was probably best known for the lovable character he played on the 90s sitcom “Coach” as the sidekick assistant coach Luther Van Dam alongside Craig T.

Van Dyke’s wife shared that they were involved in a car accident about two years ago and as a result his health had been deteriorating ever since.

The comedian followed in his brother’s footsteps, spending his early career days doing stand-up comedy at military bases around the world. Later, he made his acting debut on “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” That opportunity lead to appearances on shows like “The Ed Sullivan Show” and “The Judy Garland Show,” where he became a regular.
