OK let me give it a whirl based on today's PR...

There are 3 immediate values I see to the battery backup:

1. A HOT machine is not immediately unpowered to lose its ability to cool the expensive chips. These mining rigs run anywhere from 40-55C and are HOT. The battery system would allow for the powerful fans to continue cooling the hot circuit boards. These rigs are also increasingly MORE EXPENSIVE costing upwards of $5K for one that is in-hand. Search for "Antminer S9" on Ebay. You don't want power outages to damage expensive equipment!

2. If the circuit the miner is on trips then the mining can continue uninterrupted while the circuit is flipped back or replaced with higher amp circuit. Time is money with these mining rigs.

3. This is what I'm most excited about -- there may be a way to complement the use of power with these backups. Could these batteries perpetually store and deploy renewable energy? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Guys it looks like it is MORE than just a backup to me... "These units will be designed and built utilizing the Fernhill solar and battery storage systems."

Here is an existing backup product. These backups would not be SMALL as the miners take huge amounts of juice to run correctly. https://oksolar.com/lion/Item/bitcoin-mining-battery-backup-ups/bitcoin-mining-battery-backup-ups
