Companies can be privy to trial information as it progresses, but this has to be approved by the Investigational Review Board of the study so as to both not have a potential bias to the ongoing trial and not to allow any sort of insider trading.

From what I know such ongoing trial information is only allowed at pre-specified times, or unless the regulator sees something obvious happening good or bad and wants to take a closer look.

This would of course pertain to blinded trials. As logic would prevail that in open-label everyone can clearly see and follow what's happening.

I would expect he is just saying a general expecting to see good results.
