Very nice post. Very nice description of leveraging...Buffet says the two biggies that do traders in are liquor and leverage...

No one is immune. Long Term Capital Management (LTCM) and Lehman are too great examples...LTCM featured two Nobel prize winning economist, were diversified in ways that KIWI could hardly imagine, stress tested twice every week and figured an event that could wipe them out would not occur but once in 400 times the age of the universe...The had over $14 Bil...

A great story was the head of LTCM called a Wall Street trader. The trader ask him how far they were down...the manager said 50%...and the trader said.."You're dead then"....The manager said.."What do you mean? We still have $7 bil"...Trader said.."It doesn't matter they'll counter trade you" (because their leverage was so high). So LTCM went down and almost took the whole market down...
